With digital, expose for the highlights develop for the shadows, with film it's vice versa. Your clouds are blown out. When shooting digital place your highlights on zone VII... Yes the zone system as you already might know can be applied to digital photography as well. Blown out highlights are alright when composed in the right place, but blown out at the corners is not okay. When printed it will be simply the color of the white paper.
