Harrisia sp. Blooms

Tucson, AZ

The most prolific display for this cactus so far. This cactus usually only blooms one per year,
with the blooms lasting only for a single evening. This diptych shows 6 of the 8 blooms,
captured around midnight. I had already gone to bed but remembered that the
buds looked like they were getting ready to open, so I got up to record the event.
Well worth the mosquito bites and bump into another cactus during the shoot.
Hand-illuminated with a Lume Cube Panel Go over 15s (top) and 13s (bottom) exposures.

Below, a wider shot showing almost all the blooms.

Wow, those blooms are simply stunning, a good reason to get out of bed in the night. V

Brave going out in the dark...for some rewarding shots.
Seems Mother Nature still wants to show beauty despite her cousin's evil, viral side.

Nice work and glad you went out there for these.

bravo Sam for the effort, and you sure got the reward....attractive blooms and nasty prickles form an uneasy alliance here, and paint a picture of your desert garden..

a lovely presentation with the dark background.
