Ventana Arch

Valley of Fire State Park, Clark County, NV view map

I don't know if this arch is named or not --- certainly none that I could find,
so I call it Ventana (window) Arch because of the view. This arch is a bit of
a scramble to get to, but the view is worth the effort. One of the bigger arches
I've seen in Valley of Fire; the vertical opening is close to 6 feet. One of my
favorite arches that I have photographed in Valley of Fire.

This is a merge of a couple exposures for HDR.

I am enjoying your spectacular captures so much. This is a magnificent image that is masterfully shot with this rock arch framing a good portion of distant terrain. The depth, details, clarity, textures and colors are superb. Nature is also an amazing sculptor. VVV

Love this one..so worth the trouble to get there! V I see a horse neck and head on the left and a man's head on the right which stops just underneath the horse's head.

Beautifully captured. Lovely color and nice detail of the sediment layers. Wonderful formation and interesting erosion. Vote.

"Headbutt Arch" would seem an apt alternative name. There's a magnificence to this type of landscape. It's harsh and arid (despite the clouds which make such a good textural contrast to the rock) and will kill you readily and willingly if you let it... yet it also has a beauty, which I think you capture well in shots like this.

awe-inspiring scene brilliantly articulated...inspired name too...suggests a natural version of the corbeled arches favoured by the Mayans...V
