Space Shuttle Discovery

Fairfax County, Virginia view map

Had a business trip to the DC area and stopped by the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian National Air and Space
Annex at the Washington-Dulles airport. Seeing Discovery up close was a real treat. This is business end of the shuttle showing
the various engines that provide some of the thrust that got this into orbit. A merge of three exposures and conversion to b&w.

You can click on the images below for more information on what I captured from the last space flight
of Discovery as seen in the skies over Tucson, Arizona (March 7th and 9th, 2011).

Am I allowed to brag a little? My cousin flew three shuttle missions. He is a really interesting guy to talk to and I always think of him when I see beautiful shots like these. V
