Beijing Tower

Beijing view map

I came across a memory card that I had forgotten about. (I wonder why they
are called memory cards if they do nothing for your memory...) From a business
trip to Beijing several years ago. This is one of the air traffic control towers as
seen from the departure gate. I bumped the clarity and contrast in this shot
because there was a lot of air pollution that muted the original image.

The image below is from right after take-off and really shows how bad the air pollution
was on the day I left. Fortunately not all of the days I was there were as bad as this.

An amazing building, I guess they have to be high but they also should be avoiding that smog...V

A super structure well captured Sam. I can't believe the smog in the second image. How can people live in that.

An elegant structure. Too bad it can't be seen to advantage in such polluted air.

Wow. Glad you found them. Best J

the air seems thick behind the vase-like tower, and almost impenetrable in the photo below...perhaps best to pass on Beijing..

I can not believe people actually live in those atrocious conditions, but then again they have no laws governing factory pollution, I'm guessing...

Wow, that is a real eye opener isn't it....I've seen the pollution from the ground, but this is ....cough, choke....!!

Just imagine sliding down the bannister of a spiral staircase in the tower - Weeeee- cough-cough!

Wow, that air can't be good for you!!

That's an eye opener! I've read about the pollution problem. Great job on the editing to filter that pollution out.

It is an elegantly designed tower. I suspect that the pollution is worse now.

Yikes, that pollution is simply beyond belief. A good capture of it, Sam, even if a sad sight.
