Finally an answer - the photo is online in Opfer Der Familie Hohenstein. Mr. Hohenstein is Moritz/Max, Elsie's brother, and his wife, Bertha nee Oppenheimer. They both perished in WW2 but their daughter, Ilse Hohenstein Limbach, came to the US and was known to Elsie, Stanley and Lorraine.
