Red Rock Coulee, Near Seven Persons in Southern Alberta

Red Rock Coulee Natural Area is a very unique part of southeast Alberta. Huge red boulders litter the landscape. The red boulders are thought to be 'concretions' that have formed over time, rather than erratics deposited by glacier action.

Further afield, the coulee badlands looks like a scene from a spaghetti Western.

At -25 degrees Celcius with a howling prairie wind, even Mars would seem more hospitable. However this is the kind of place, lighting and conditions that any serious photographer dreams about.
