Shu Yamamoto was born in Yokohama, Japan and graduated from the Aichi Prefectural University of Art and Music. He immigrated to Canada in 1973 and Utah ten years later. His cat project started in 2007 when he saw an imitation of the self portrait of Van Gogh by his son, but replaced with a cat’s face. Shu Yamamoto had accumulated enough paintings for a book and published his artwork in Japan in 2012. His exhibition were held in United States, Japan, Taipei etc. The exhibitions has finally landed in Hong Kong in November 2020.
