After working for years on a rickety workbench, I finally decided to build a really serious woodworking bench, one that would pass on to one of my grandsons some day. I chose the Roubo style bench, first documented by Andre Roubo in the 18th century. I found the components I needed from a company called Benchcrafted, and very detailed construction plans in video form from the website thewoodwhisperer.com. The bench was constructed out of ash, with a few quartersawn white oak and American black walnut accents.
