Gallery: Little St. Simons Island

Little St. Simons sort of wraps around the northeast corner of the main St. Simons Island, which is in turn just off the Atlantic coast from Brunswick, Georgia. It is privately owned and accessible only by boat. Overnight accommodations are available for up to 30 guests, and you have the run of the island while there. The island is 10,000 acres, of which 4000 acres are above water. As can be seen from the map in the facilities sub-gallery, numerous unpaved roads make most parts of the island accessible. Transportation is by the naturalists' truck, bicycle, horseback or on foot. The island is a nature lover's unspoiled paradise.

There is a sub-gallery showing some of the facilities for the island guests, if you want to have a look, and another sub-gallery with images from our second visit in spring 2006. These pictures represent just a small fraction of the wildlife on this unique island.
