A smaller group attended this event - depleted somewhat by the absence of the Porritt whanau celebrating Philip's 80th at Taupo.
We were passed by at the beginning of the Orongorongo Track by hordes of runners - most of whom set off up the Butcher Track.
A new arrival this year was Philip Kyle who was at Onslow in the late 60's and is now a Professor of Geochemistry at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.
Philip specializes in volcanology and has had 45 seasons in Antarctica (1969-2016). With Philip was his partner Anne.
