These are found on the south coast of the North Island.
This is an interesting area containing pinnacles (or hoodoo's) which are continually being eroded away.
The conglomerate is 6-7 million years old and has been above sea level approximately 120,000 years.
Because the Pacific/Australian plates boundary is only ~ 50km away the uplift has been relatively fast.
Fossils can also be seen in some rock.
