A record of the trip from Ocean beach to the Catchpool via the Mukamuka Stream, Orongorongo valley and the Orongorongo Track.

The weather was fine for the first 2 hours then changed to misty, heavy mist and then light rain. The photo's stop just after we joined the Mount Matthews track except for a group photo at Turere Lodge. I have included a few pictures from a trip a month previously. We managed to get transport from Ocean Beach around to the gate before the Mukamuka stream which would have saved the best part of an hour.
My first mukamuka trip was with the late Graeme Radcliffe in 1958. We were dropped off at the Orongorongo bridge on friday night, walked around the coast to the Mukamuka Stream and over to the Orongorongo river on Saturday and then out to Jacksons farm on the sunday.
The Mukamuka stream has a large number of young Buddleia plants that in a year or so will make for difficult travel. We experienced this first hand when we got off track in the Matthews stream.
