A few of us went out to shoot some of the old abandoned buildings in our area (mainly TJs Antique Emporium and Denver & Rio Grande RR Co. Freight Station in Ogden). When it came time to post-process I decided that I wanted all the photos to have a border of some kind. I also wanted to have the photos duplicate in feel old film processes of the past. Some people might frown on the practice of placing a digital photo into a Fuji Realta rebate frame or turn a modern photo into a faux daguereotype but I have found the process educational and it has gotten me interested in doing a bit of film photography in the near future. I call that a win for me.
I had considered getting into deep explanations with each of the photos as to what the real processes were and specifics about my post-processing routines for the photos. In the end I decided not to do that. I'll indicate my sources for the processes used though. One important book I used was the "Photoshop Fine Art Effects Cookbook" by John Beardsworth. Another source was the Lee Frost book "The A-Z of Creative Digital Photography." My rebate frames were picked up on Shutterstock. Others were provided through the Flickr account of dominic.whiten.
