The Hunting Scene

This Fremont Northern San Rafael Style panel is the most well known panel in Nine Mile Canyon. The large figure placed among the sheep may be a shaman whose purpose is to ensure the success of the hunt. Hunter can be seen surrounding the animals. It's possible that Cottonwood Canyon where this panel is located might have been a migration corridor for bighorn sheep. Also, many of the figures seem to be joined by lines. These may be kinship lines which indicate a relationship between the animals and people to one another.
