In 1859 William Bodey discovered gold near the California-Nevada border and founded a town that bears his name (although the spelling is now different). By 1880 there were 10,000 people in Bodie making it one of the largest cities in the West at that time. Eventually the town declined as people moved away. Bodie stands today in a state of "arrested decay". The State of California made it a State Historic Park in 1962.
I visited Bodie ghost town on October 21, 2006. I decided to have the images reduced to black and white. I used filters and Paint Shop Pro to post process the images into a condition that I would like. Two panoramas of Bodie can be found at the very bottom. The third image from the bottom is a self-portrait.
All images were taken with the Digital Rebel XT using a 10-22mm lens, a 24-105mm L lens, a 100-400mm L lens, and a Peleng fisheye lens.
