m83 ED127.jpg

Messier 83 (also known as the Southern Pinwheel Galaxy, M83 or NGC 5236) is a barred spiral galaxy approximately 15 million light-years away in the constellation Hydra. It is one of the closest and brightest barred spiral galaxies in the sky, making it visible with binoculars.

Still testing the ED127. Some problems with the focuser are becoming evident. Also this was a noisy pic and for some reason CCDStack was not playing ball. Debayering produced lots of Red Green Blue hot pixels that were a bit persistant. DSS knocked these off but I think star colour suffers when processed in DSS.
