I've been playing around with my new iPhone's camera to try to do some "serious" photography.
It's a challenge - the ergonomics are awkward at best and there is very little manual control. There's not even an indicator to let you know the shutter speed is too slow to hand hold and I've got the blurry, out of focus pictures to prove it.
On the other hand, you're composing your images on a big display screen and no one pays any attention to you because you look like every tourist with a camera phone.
I'm still learning how to work with the iPhone's camera. The biggest change is that I literally have no control over how the camera takes the picture other than composing the image and snapping the picture. All my technical knowledge, tossed out the window. This is liberating and scary at the same time.
paul--you at one time competed in the cichallenges. i remember you and you submitted some fine images there. i, too, have had to resort to using an iphone due to my inabilty to carry around my digital slr. i agree, even tho just capturing a good image w the iphone camera is a challenge, if you do get a good one, clarity and color are great. apparently, those images are well seen only on the iphone screen itself. however, i recently attended an all iphone image exhibit down here in southern connecticut where the photographer, dutch doscher, had some exquisite images on display that were all taken w his iphone!! i wish you were there to see these amazing prints! just as good or better than thos taken w a traditional camera. google dutch to see for yourself, altho the images on the computer screen are no where near as gorgeous as those in the exhibit. yes, the conveniece of the iphone is phenomenal, but getting the shots into compeetition is tough. shu
