Leafhopper Nymph extruding excess sugar

Leafhoppers process huge amounts of sap for nutrients. The excess sugar and water is extruded as waste. If you've ever parked your car under a tree and come back later to find it covered in sap, this is it. Trees don't waste sap voluntarily.
