1/6 Bristolian excursion. 47580 "County of Essex" hauls the Bristolian Train into Bristol Temple Meads platform 3, from St Philips Marsh MPD, ready for the Up journey to Paddington.
The Bristolian non stop service from Bristol Temple Meads to and from London Paddington was run as a steam hauled special on 17 April 2010 as part of the 175th Anniversary celebrations of the Great Western Railway supported by First Great Western. It was probably their support that got us onto the Up Main fast line on the approach to Paddington and ensured our arrival ~40 mins ahead of schedule! Bristol to London in 1 hour 51 minutes non-stop.
