June 18

I watched these young Red-tails this morning from 6:30 until 9:45 AM. The single male adult did not return to the nest during this time. The young did some calling from time to time, but didn't seem in distress and did not peck at each other. They are growing rapidly and feathers are replacing down.

Later in the day, the female who had been hit by a car on June 6, was returned to the park by Kent Knowles of the Raptor Conservancy of Virginia. She had been been treated, cared for, and returned to health. Hopefully she will return to her chicks and begin feeding them.
