The Separation Wall is being build by the Israeli government to provide security against suicide bombers. But the wall is being built largely on Palestinian land and it confiscates huge amounts of traditional Palestinian farmland, water resources and Palestinian territory. Israelis claim that the wall is a “fence” built for security purposes. Palestinians call it the racist, separation wall.

The Separation Wall is not built on the internationally recognized Israeli border, but within the Palestinian West Bank. The wall cuts through Palestinian communities, dividing local residents from their families, schools, medical facilities and businesses. It does not divide Israelis from Palestinians as much as it divides Palestinians from Palestinians.

The wall perpetuates the continuation and expansion of illegal Israeli settlements that take over more and more of the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The Separation Wall cannot bring peace to Israelis and Palestinians. The only thing that can bring peace is a comprehensive, negotiated peace settlement.
