When Mellow first came into our lives 2 years ago, we thought we would be friends forever. He showed up in our yard one day while Kathy was weeding the garden. She talked to him, gave him food and water and, finally brushed him. That was all it took. HE became our cat from that day onward. Mellow was like a dog trapped in a cat's body. He would follow me to the store, wait outside, and return home with me. When we had company, Mellow would go from lap to lap, seeking affection, getting petted and purring loudly. He never met anybody he didn't like, even if they didn't like him...or were allergic to cats!

Last summer, while we were away, we lost our dear friend. We left him in the hands of someone who was supposed to take care of him and his sister. That person neglected him, put our cats outside in the back yard, and took no responsibility for his actions. When we returned home, Mellow was gone and his sister, Jameela had a urinary tract infection. We searched for Mellow everywhere, put up signs and quizzed our neighbors, who all knew how friendly Mellow was to cats and humans alike. We didn't find him.

We have now moved from our house and garden on the hill. We leave memories behind of a dear cat that we loved. A cool cat named Mellow. This gallery is a tribute to him. WE miss him and we love him. And we always will.
