2006.10.31 Water management (3): Maximum evaporation

Somewhere west of Fresno, California

I read from time to time about problems with long-term water supply in various parts of California. And, as I mentioned before, there's that "California is basically a desert" line.

But in this desert, someone doesn't mind watering a field during the hottest part of the day. Less would evaporate at night; a larger proportion would reach the ground! I suppose there must be a good reason (other than the joy of wastage).

Interesting point indeed. I really like it, it's beautiful! The lines on the land, the lines on the water sprinklers, contrasting against the layers of mountain terrain in the backdrop. And the human element gave a great sense of scale. Fantastic. Voted.
