I read from time to time about problems with long-term water supply in various parts of California. And, as I mentioned before, there's that "California is basically a desert" line.
But in this desert, someone doesn't mind watering a field during the hottest part of the day. Less would evaporate at night; a larger proportion would reach the ground! I suppose there must be a good reason (other than the joy of wastage).
