Perfect Light

Just about any object or scene looks better than its actual self in the golden light of the sun going down. Standing on the Seattle pier and looking east, I saw this building go through several stages of beauty in less than an hour. It’s an attractive building with lots of design features, even in the harsh light of day, but I wonder if the architect knew how beautiful it would be at the end of the day. To me it looks more like a model of a building than the real thing.

I feel that the best architects are students of light rather than sculpture. So are the best image makers. This is a masterful rendering Patsy. It is simultaneously playful (the rotograveure palet) and moving in terms of mass, blended with detail that mimics texture. And all in mid-day light? Yipes! The HDR is so well presented This is surely a new media, and you are just as surely becoming its mistress. Thanks for sharing it along with your thoughts.

THANKS FOR THAT! I hold out hope that if/when the day comes that I can't be here where I love to be...I have the Pacific Northwest to be (unless Jason is reluctant to have a parent or parents that nearby)...Seattle is one beautiful (if expensive) city...one could take years exploring it's gifts and mysteries. You have presented your usual indepth observations and knowledge through these photo experiences and text...I'd LOVE the printed out version of your daily one day!
