This is an old post box, the G R representing King George V1.
So probably dated from between the late 1930's - 1952

First they came for the mail boxes, but I said nothing, for I was not a mailbox. Then they came for the phone booths. And again I was silent, for I was no phone booth. And they came for the Web and cell phones, they took control of twitter and facebook, yet I remained silent, for I was not those things. When they finally came for me, there was nothing left I could use to call for help! Good photo ;-)

Excellent find... it's so good that they haven't been replaced with modern equivalents as phone boxes have.
