Mike,
The 705-05 is actually a different knife. The 05 in this one is just for the month of May, being the 5th month.
There were only 1000 of each of the KOTM models made, so it is a bit of a limited model. Also, with the 705 being a very popular model among Benchmade users, there is a bit more of a demand for this version. That being said, I have an 835HS which was another KOTM edition, which I carried and used quite heavily for a while. I did pick up a second one though for my collection. If you collect them, buy a regular 705. If you don't really collect, use it and enjoy it.

I recently acquired a NIB McHenry Williams 705-05 as pictured. It has aluminum handle scales with a coating of some sort that resembles a carbon like fiber. My question is simple. Is this knife, which was the May 2000 KOTM a user or a keeper. Is there any additional value attached to this knife more than the price I paid. I paid $90 for it. I like it and it is really slick. But if there is a premium attached to it, I don't want to depreciate it by using it. Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
