Green fields and scrub trees on the west flank of the Andes near San Pablo. Passing clouds and
fog provide most of the moisture to sustain this vegetation; just a few kilometers away and
several hundred meters lower, desert scrub and cactus prevail.
The "umbrella trees" and open land reminded me of a scene from Africa.
