Hello, my name is David Anthony Romero, I was born in 1960. My Family and I lived on Morris Avenue between 184 Street and Fordham Road. I lived in the Bronx my whole life. I have so many wonderful memories of the Bronx.

Wow- An amazing site. WHen I dream, many of my dreams take place in my apt. On Townsend. The days of having parents and knowing everyone in the building....

Joann

I lived at 485 E. 188th St. until 1952 and I always remembered the big clock when my mother and I were going up Fordham Road to Alexanders. I went on a date to Poe's Little Nook which had great hamburgers.

Wish I could go back in time for those were the days.

I'm originally from 2607 Jerome Ave, on the West side between 192nd & Kingsbridge & across from St. James Park. I attended PS 86 & De Witt Clinton. Departed in 1948 when I joined the military. My brother worked at the Dollar Savings. He met his wife there (also an employee). I then worked there in late 1968, early 1969 and also met my wife there. She was a secretary to one of the VPs and probably knew moe's mother. How about Poe Cozy Nook on the corner across from the bank! The gang from the $ bank wouldn't play the new juke box and held out until the bar returned the old one that used only a nickel per record. Have two buddies from the 'old' days living in Calif with me. Finally got away from the snow!

I lived on Anthony Avenue, the last block with the dead end (excuse me, Cul de Sac) just off the Cross Bronx: I went to PS 28 from 63-68. Remember looking out the stairwell building north and seeing the old bank tower...or was it from Wade JHS (68-71).

Dollar Savings Bank had the most grand interior, marble and brass, my mother worked there most of her life. Robert Halls was on the corner, Zaros bakery on the other end of the block.

Hummm, how can that Dollar Savings Bank be your bank??? It was my bank! LOL My grandmother used to go to this bank (and the Dime Savings bank at 170th Street and Walton Avenue) for free gifts if you signed up. So we got many gifts.. and bank books to go along. This view is looking north and in between the buildings is Fordham Road. BTW, just north on the GC is Edgar Allen Poe Cottage.
