Can anyone help? I just found out that my grandmother Bella Wolfson was buried in Acacia Cemetery in June of 1923. I'm trying to confirm this information and not sure of how to proceed. .

I have a great-uncle buried in Acacia, David Garfinkle. If you see his (and his wife, Celia) stone, or happen to have a picture, please let me know.

I too know this place. I grew up in Queens and have often passed by, seeing the grafffiti and bottles, and feeling a sadness. I took many photographs in the "cemetery belt" (meaning all the cemeteries surrounding Cypress Hills and Cypress Hills Cemetery itself) and Ridgewood and Bushwick Cemeteries. I left NYC in 1997 without ever setting foot in Acacia. I don't expect I'll ever be back in the area, so I'd love to see the images that have been taken...

More importantly, I bid peace to those who lie there and to those who mourn their passing.

Hi I have a great passion for cemeteries and I must say Acacia Cemetery is miraculous I've been there several times and I really loved it. Acacia has so much age and beauty at times I felt I was walking through the woods it was a wonderful experience. Last time I layed my eyes onto Acacia was in 2007 I spent a little over two hours taking photos, I beleive I took at least 437 images.

I know this sounds crazed but I must admit sometimes I have more respect for the dead then I do the living and when I see graffiti on the walls and beer bottles lying around gets me in a real peevish mood so when ever I visit a cemetery which is my favorite place to be also where it is so peaceful I always like to bring a rose and leave it there as a sign of love and respect.

Can't wait to go there again I always wanted to do a documentery in Acacia. Can't anyone tell me how old is Acacia? Thanks in advance and thank you for sharing these beautiful photos. I myself have a few photos just like the ones here.
