KINGSTON, Ont. (Feb. 16, 2011) – The St. Lawrence College Kingston women’s basketball team bolted past Loyalist 66-33 Wednesday night in its final appearance of the season on home court. With the win, the Vikings move their record to 6-9, while Loyalist drops to 2-13 in the OCAA.

SLC Kingston dominated the play in the opening period building a 14-3 lead with 12:21 left in the half. Loyalist pushed its way back into the game down 15-10, but the Vikings would not budge on defence and their offence went full force ahead as they finished the half on a 23-7 run to take a 38-17 lead into the break.

Eight Viking points opened the second half, including a pair of three-pointers by Kari Stuart, which stretched the lead to 46-17 with 16:36 left in the game. Loyalist would come as close as 18 points, but the Vikings charge was too strong as they pushed the lead to 20 and then 30 points, before ending the contest with a 66-33 victory.

Amanda Girling led all scorers with 15 points, while Chelsea Magladry and Stuart added 13 and 11 points, respectively. Corisa Cluett had a game-high eight rebounds.

At the end of the game, the Vikings honoured their four graduating players, including the team’s leading scorer, Cory Ridgley, Magladry, Kylie Stover and recognized newcomer Catherine Buethe.
