St Lawrence vs Georgian W-Basketball 11-27-10

KINGTON, Ont. (Nov. 27, 2010) – The St. Lawrence College Kingston women’s basketball team dropped a 52-42 decision to Georgian Saturday, Nov. 27 at the SLC Gymnasium in Kingston, Ont. The Vikings fall to 1-3 in league play, while Georgian improved to 3-3.

The Vikings took an early 11-8 advantage in the first half at the 9:10 mark on a field goal by Amanda Girling. That would be SLC Kingston’s final lead of the game as the Grizzlies closed the frame with a 17-4 run to take a 25-15 edge into the break.

The Grizzlies pulled ahead by 14 points at 35-21 in the second half, but a short burst of energy fueled a 7-0 run for the Vikings to cut the deficit to 35-28 with 9:55 remaining in the game. SLC Kingston continued to press and got within three at 42-39 with 2:11 to pull off the comeback. However, Georgian’s Dana Marley quickly responded with four points to give the Grizzlies a cushion they would ride out to finish the game with 10 of the final 13 points in the game.

Girling delivered her second double-double of the season with a season-high 20 points and 11 rebounds. Girling shot 8-for-11 from the floor and added five blocks.

The Grizzlies were led by Marley’s 17 points, while teammate Dana Campbell’s had 13 points.

The Vikings now begin a four-game road swing starting at Durham Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m
