VIKINGS WIN BIG IN SEASON OPENER
(Kingston, ON) Right from the opening tip-off, the Vikings controlled the pace of their first Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) regular season game against the Georgian College Grizzlies on Saturday October 25th.

SLC opened the game with an 18-0 run to open the first quarter. Georgian would settle in and mount a brief comeback through the Vikings reaching five fouls within the first five minutes of the quarter. But the Grizzlies struggled to control the ball, turning it over 21 times in the first half. The Vikings made sure to take advantage of their opportunities, shooting 43%.

To start the second half, the Vikings put on their starting five, showcasing why they have been a playoff and championship contender for the past two seasons with great ball movement, forcing turnovers, and scoring at will. Eventually SLC began to rotate through players, giving all players at least 15 minutes of playing time, and the 85-48 final score.

"It was a great team win today" said Vikings head coach, Remy Simpson.

"We were able and rotate everyone into the game and our rookies performed really well."

Lacey Knox finished with a team high 19 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. In her first year with the Vikings, Hannah Koposhynska recorded 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Vikings are back in action on Friday October 31st, when they travel to Oshawa and take on the Durham College Lords at 6:00pm. The next home game for SLC is November 8th when they host Seneca College.
