St Lawrence vs Georgian M-Rugby 10-16-10

KINGSTON, Ont. (Oct. 16, 2010) - The St. Lawrence College Kingston Vikings men’s rugby team suffered a 15-12 defeat at the hands of Georgian Saturday, Oct. 16 at SLC North Field in Kingston, Ont. With the loss, the Vikings fell to 1-2-1-1 overall and the Grizzlies move to 2-0-2-1 on the season.

Georgian put up the first points of the contest with a tri by Jared DeJong at 13:30 in the first half. SLC answered with a tri by Joshua Audet-Smith who punched in a tri at 34:14, which was converted by Travis Smiley to put the Vikings up 7-5.

In the second half, Georgian mustered up another successful attack that Cory Hingley touched down for a tri to give the Grizzlies the 10-7 edge. SLC Kingston returned with a tri at the 22-minute mark in the second half by Drew Webster to take a 12-10 lead.

Georgian’s DeJong slipped passed the SLC Kingston defence again to give the Grizzlies a 15-12 advantage to win the match.

SLC Kingston will play its final home game of the season against Fleming(L) Saturday, Oct. 23. The game is set to start at 1 p.m.
