KINGSTON, Ont. (Nov. 27, 2010) – Mathieu Riendeau scored a season-high 32 points to power the St. Lawrence College Kingston men’s basketball team to a 89-63 win over Georgian Saturday, Nov. 27 at the SLC Gymnasium in Kingston, Ont. SLC Kingston is now 4-2 in OCAA play, while Georgian dropped to 3-5.

It started out as a tight contest and looked to be anyone’s game through the first 12 minutes of play, which included four ties and five lead changes. After being tied at 23 at the 8:43 mark, Riendeau drained 16 of the Vikings’ next 22 points powering a 22-8 run to break out to a 45-31 lead at the half.

The closest Georgian would come after the break is 13 points, after a jumper by Kerel Pryce made it 48-35 with 18:51 left to play. The second frame proved to be all Vikings with Georgian trying to stay in the game with little success. SLC Kingston shot 51.4 percent in the final 20 minutes to cruise to an 89-63 victory.

Riendeau recorded his second double-double of the season going 15-for-20 from the field to collect 32 points and grabbed 15 boards. Malcolm Ramsay and Terence Thomas added 17 and 14 points, respectively, for the Vikings.

Georgian’s offence was guided by Jesse Amaral’s 16 points, while Tevin Goodridge added 12 and Pryce had 10 points for the Grizzlies.

SLC Kingston shot 48.7 percent in the game, while Georgian was 35.6 percent from the floor. The Vikings also held a large advantage on the glass at 55-33.

The Vikings will be in action Tuesday, Nov. 30 at Durham, in the first contest of a four-game road swing. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.
