Collins Bay Institute 07747.JPG

Kingston, Ontario, Canada, a UNESCO World Heritage Destination view map

Opened in 1930, and there the information seems to stop. Collins Bay is one of three dual penitentiaries in the Kingston area. It is a medium security prison and sits on a farm property known as the Frontenac Institute which is minimum security. Please click on view map to get an idea of how big this place is. And like K.P. before it, it too was built in the middle of nowhere.

What an impressive looking building. Not at all like the prisons that I've seen...no barbed wire! Great photo.

Fascinating architecture for a prison. It somehow looks like the roof and building don't match. Well composed image.

Splendid architecture and the picture and History !
I think this is more a Scottish style than a French one, with these beautiful and heavy stones on the façade. However, maybe in Brittany some castles could have a look like this one.

It does look like a French chateau - not bad for a jail
