Among the smallest of the crane species worldwide
the Blue Crane is the national bird of South Africa.
It’s endemic to southern Africa, with more than 99%
of the population occurring there. The Blue Crane is
a bird of dry grasslands and other upland habitats
rather than specifically restricted to large wetlands
like most cranes.
