From Vegacervera, the road winds north through the deep gorge of Las Hoces, criss-crossing the Río Torío, towards Felmín.
A switchback road climbs to the village of Valporquero. Within the village, a dolina (sinkhole) holds an entrance to the showcave "La Cueva de Valporquero.
A mirador, or overlook near the village allows a grand vista of the spectacular countryside.
