chapter 4 - Religion
"THE AVATARS OF VISHNOU
In the form of the tortoise, Vishnou participates in the popular "Churning of the Ocean", taken from the Bhagavata Pourana and common in iconography - the gods and the demons dispute the possession of the amrita, the elixir of immortality, and the tortoise serves as a base for the mountain forming a pivot."

"A Yantra tattoo is a Khmer tattoo. In Cambodia, the tattoo's purpose is used for self-protection. Cambodians believe a yantra has magical powers that ward off evil and hard. The tattoo is particular popular among army soldiers. A Yantra is usually obtained from a religious person or monk. The tattoo artist guarantees that the person cannot receive any physical harm as long as they follow certain conditions. A person is suppose to not talk to anyone for three days and three nights. Another alternative is to follow the five Buddhist percepts which are you cannot kill, steal, cheat, be intoxicated by alcohol or lust over woman. The tattoo contains ancient Khmer and Pali texts. Records have shown that the tattoo dates back to Angkor times.
The tattoo is also popular in Thailand and is also written in ancient Khmer and Pali text."
