Aaahh.... Arriving at the Roth's and headin' out to the deck in the evening. |
Time to sit and relax with a beer... viewing Mackinac Island... and trying some first photos on Joanie's new camera. |
The flowers are worth taking another shot... and... hey, can I get a close-up of the bridge? |
Yup.... there it is... right between the trees. I never weary of looking at the water and bridge. |
Four of my first photos created a panaramic view... but I learned later that the camera's setting can be locked for evenness. |
Relaxing the next day on the sofa... and I LOVE the view through the windows. |
A little close up from the sofa... and using a different camera setting... this little camera can do some nice things. |
Add a bit more telephoto from the comfort of the sofa... a beautiful day. |
Joan took some shots... here is a look south and east along the shore. |
Back to the deck with a beer in hand. Nope... it doesn't get old. (This is a wide-view style photo... a small camera feature). |
A shot from the lake of Roth's house with the deck in front. |
And for another look at the lake from the driveway... |
Hey, there's a freighter out there... I'll have to try some more close-ups. |
I love the colors of the water from white to sandy to shades of blue. |
Hey... TWO freighters out there, plus one of the ferries heading back to Mackinaw City from Mackinac Island. |
A distant view of Makinaw City from Roth's house. |
Another shot of the bridge. |
Mackinaw City has a newly built marina and a couple special boats tied up that can be visited. |
The Welcome... a replica of an early Mackinaw Schooner. I didn't take the tour. |
Now HERE is a ship with ATTITUDE... the decommisioned Mackinaw, the world's most powerful icebreaker when built... a good tour. |
A try at the full moon... but didn't really find the right camera settings... we're getting used to what the new camera can do. |
On the way home and a quick swing by the church... and the famous tree our kids climbed in for over 10 years. |
And the picnic table is still there (I built it more than 20 years ago)... and the deck I built is still there |
A view of Zion Lutheran Church in St. Ignace... I served as pastor almost 11 years... a standing record. |
A veiw of Trinity Lutheran Church in the fishing village of Brevort, part of the two-point parish with Zion. |
Trinity with their famous Mid-Summer Pole... note the sails and little guy on top... all symbolic with the leaves and spars. |
And, we're back home and Joan is rejoined with her new little cat, Dharma, sleeping in the bed Joan knit for her. |
