While the girls learned 'cooking and cleaning', the boys learned basketball and football.

As an aside; after my first divorce, I did learn how to 'cook and clean'. Eventually, I became a manager of a 12 suite apartment building, and REALLY learned how to clean FILTHY AND MOLDY stoves, refrigerators, and bathrooms. Managing was a great learning experience though.

Also, I remember working with Ronnie Norwood (class of '65) at the "Ryder's Gulf " filling-station in Milan. The owner didn't have a toilet brush, and so we had to plunge our bare hands into the bowls, and use cleanser to spiffy everything up. For a teenager, this was a real lesson in humility. If you thought you were 'hot poop', this quickly brought you down to earth. My pay was a dollar an hour - but this was a great step-up from baling hay all summer for 50 cents per hour.

Ronnie tragically died in the late '60s. He used to drive me home from school in his 1956 Corvette. It was a factory dual-quad 265 with automatic, and a convertible too. This would be worth a fortune today.
