This is a view of the flights that flew through the FAA waypoint, SSTIK. It does not show the flights that turned before they got to SSTIK and then flew over Brisbane.

The flights segregate into two groups: those that fly the assumed SSTIK flight path described in the prior slide and the ones that cut the lagoon.

Note the greater number of flights cutting the northern end of the lagoon and then turning over northern Brisbane. See the flight tracks in the image from 2009 where the flight paths are predominately further north. The procedure was through SEPDY.

Despite the new SSTIK procedure, vectoring is still a problem for Brisbane.

In August 2015, 2.8 flights per 100 that flew through the SSTIK waypoint created noise events over 65 db at the Brisbane noise monitor.

For those that did not fly through SSTIK, 28 flights per 100 created noise events over 65db at the Brisbane noise monitor. 1e 10x more likely to create a noise event. These are the flights that the FAA turned early and are the vectored flights.

Note we still hear the flights over Brisbane that do not register, They are still loud - just not loud enough to be counted!
