Liberty MemorialMy wife and I were running around the City with our daughter and just, happened to stop by Liberty Memorial. I snapped this image, which ended up, coming out much better than I'd anticipated. |
WWI GraphicThis graphic was taken right fro, the website of Liberty Memorial Museum. If you have the opportunity, you really should go, it's simply awesome. |
Old PosterI took this image from an internet site. |
Dedication, 1921I borrowed this image from the internet, wikipedia I believe. I searched and searched, but could find no really good, large sized pictures of the dedication, or early monument. If anyone out there has any, please forward them to me. |
Dedication, 1921Another shot of the dedication. |
Arial ViewI took this image from the internet, obviously. |
TicketHere is what the ticket looked like, when my nephew and I toured the museum this particular day. |
PamphletHere is an image scanned of the pamphlet I was given on my tour, 08 August 2021. |
 "Over There" Cafe |
Tower BlueI swear I did no editing to this photograph, although people ask. All I did was put a border around it and post. Is this a cool shot, or what? |
WelcomeI took this shot on the way out. Oh man, was it cold that day. This picture was taken the weekend the museum opened. |
Blue TowerAnother tower shot, this one with clear skies. Man, was I frozen. |
From The CarThis was a shot I took from our car, looking northeast. |
 West Hall |
 Frontal View |
 Sky Blue |
Winter SkyI'm no weather dude, but I'm about half convinced that that temperatures have a lot to do with the color of the sky. When I took this next series of shots, it was hovering around 05 degrees (f) outside. |
With The CityI always liked this shot. I was going for a sunset, but it was too cloudy, and too cold for me to wait around. Still, this is a nice effort. |
The MallI took this long shot to show how the drive look on your way in, and out. They've done a wonderful job here. When I was in highschool, this entire place was an area filled with little more than dope deals and muggings. Holy Moses it was cold that day. The wind was blowing and I was standing out there fumbling around with the tripod. |
From The MallI took this shot on a Sunday monring when I knew nobody else would be there. The sky was perfect. |
Sacrifice LeftI never thought to zoom in on these sculptures; what a great couple of shots. I did not take this photograph. It is the work of, Steve Rich, whose work can be seen by following the link at the top of the page, in the introductory paragraph. |
Sacrifice RightThe lady of Sacrifice, as seen through the lens of, Steve Rich. His work can be seen by following the link shown in the introductory paragraph. I love these shots. |
Onward & UpwardThe tower is simply amazing. I got dizzy standing there looking up, trying to take this shot. |
Through The CloudsObviously, the same shot really. I simply couldn't get enough of the tower. I've taken shots like this during the daytime, evening and late at night. I've done do in the summer and in the dead of winter when every sensible person was staying indoors. |
From The NorthI took this picture standing in the parking lot of Union Station. Not many people take the time to come around front and see what's there. |
EntranceWalking down into the entrance of the museum. |
West SphinxWalking up the steps, you can see the city in the background. |
 West SphinxSecond View. |
East SphinxWhat cool scuptures these two are. |
East HallMost of the artifacts are displayed below. However, there are some artifacts in this museum here, on the ground level of the moneument. There is another hall on the other side which houses flags and other minutia. |
West HallFlags and other historical artifacts are held in this hall. |
The PoolAgain, the entrance. if you look closely you can see my wife and our daughter being strolled in on the right hand side. |
RemembranceLest we forget the reason for the monument and the museum in the first place. The cloud cover seemed to highlight the shot. |
Early Officer's UniformsInitially I wasn't going to include this shot, but the more I looked at it, the more I liked it. Not so much the display itself, but the glass, the reflections, and such. I just like it. |
Infantry RiflesVarious rifles from participating Nations. |
British Officer UniformThe French one was hanging next to it. The French really don't need uniforms, tanks or guns. All they really need is their surrender kit. |
Unknown SoldierThe revolving photograpsh are backlit and displayed just before you walk through the main glass bridge into the museum. They change every few seconds. |
Unknown SoldierWe tried to donate a very good copy of my wife's great paternal grandfather, who was himself a Veteran of the Great War. However they weren't interested in copies; they wanted her original. We told them what they could do with that sentiment. |
Unknown SailorNot too much is heard about the Sea War, what with all the stories of Manfred von Richtofen, and Sergeant York, but a Great Sea War did indeed, rage. |
 Unknown Soldier |
Unknown SoldierThese are so cool to see as you enter the museum. |
 Unknown SoldierVery cool, indeed. |
Ah, The FrenchIch hasse der Frankreisch luete. Sehur grosse hasse. |
Eisen Kreuz"Iron Cross" An original medal. What I wouldn't give to have one. So very cool. |
In The AirThey have a few of these hanging around and they're awesome. This one was odd, as it was a rear propeller driven Brit bi-plane. |
Commemorative PlatePurple? Leave it to the French. |
 Another Big Gun |
WWI Gas MaskHow cool that this survived, but what a "ghastly" looking this. Put this on and you expect to hear Darth Vader telling Luke he's his father. |
ComradesThese enlarged photos are also littered throughout the museum. Very powerful stuff. |
Open DisplaysI had to create a limit, otherwise I'd have displayed all 200 photographs taken this day at the museum. There's just so much to see and do, so much information one can gather. It's very much worth your time and effort. |
Submarine WarfareA torpedo on display. I shot six or seven pictures of this bad boy from all angles. |
Trench DisplayThese are pretty cool. They're scattered all around the museum. |
 What's That Sound?BOOM. You're dead. That's what that sound was. |
The American FlagAs it looked, in 1918. |
 b13.jpg |
Fokker DVIIA model of this famous aircraft hangs over a display of "No Man's Land". It was extremely difficult to get this photograph, as I had to do it without the use of a tripod, or a flash. Because of the low level of light in the room itself, the camera had to remain very still while the shutter sucked in as much light as it was able. |
No Man's LandWhat a cool display. The lights changed from white, to red to blue in 30 second intervals, or so. |
No Man's LandWhat a cool display. The lights changed from white, to red to blue in 30 second intervals, or so. |
OuchSmall gun really, but I'd still, very much not, like to get shot by it. |
BiplaneThis was yet another hanging plane. I love these. |
Misc EquipmentSeveral of the displays showcased this kind of every day stuff. Fascinating. |
 AmbulanceGo Henry Ford. |
Honorable DischargeWhat a wonderful document, and piece of history. I wonder if anyone will want to see my discharge in a hundred years? |
Ready, Aim, FIREAnother wheeled gun. |
Proper PostageThis guy found this German helmet on the battlefield and then mailed it home. Stamps on the helmet itself and then the address on a card attached to the helmet. Fascinating. |
Ford AmbulanceI posted this shot before I realized I'd already posted a previous one. I kept it because I couldn't decide which one was better, nor could I get over how much this exhibit has remained the same, despite the two year gap. |
.45 ACPForty five calibre "Automatic Colt Pistol". What an awesome ride. I own several. |
French TankThis must have been what they hid in. You know good and well it was never used to offensive purposes. |
Pickelhaube HelmetI took this shot on a previous visit from the others. |
 05.jpg |
Artists At WorkWhat a drawing. I'd love to have a copy. |
 British Helmet |
I Want YOUOriginal Uncle Sam Poster, 1917 |
Oh, The FrenchWhen will we ever learn? |
Cool PosterI really liked this one. |
 The Red CrossVery Nice. |
Join The MarinesLive in a mud hole and eat your dinner froma tin can? No thank you. Give me the Air Force please. Three hot meals and nice warm bed at the end of the day. |
Frog FeverThere's simply no end to it. |
Night ShotI loved these. I took tens of them, maybe more. I chose to only put six up here however. They have a hard time getting both search lights to work at the same time. |
Orange NightAnother cold night. I'm not sure why I chose to take all these night shots in the winter time. I think it may have been that in the cold weather, I knew I was much less likely to get mugged. |
Blue Light SpecialThe 5.1mp Cybershot always took good pictures. |
Night Out FrontTaken from Union Station. |
Tower am NachtI borrowed this from photographer, Steve Rich. I just thought this shot was fabulous. |
Bottoms UpLying flat on the ground, I took this shot. The cement was just as cold as the air. |

View From AboveJust a silly image of my vehicle, from atop the Liberty Memorial Tower. |
