"Bessie", as she was known, was the eldest of twelve children born to William John Whiston Merrill & his wife, Lillian Elizabeth T. Walker. On 24 March 1904 in Nebraska she married John Lester Behrens. Together this couple would have eight children. The original photograph shown was given to me by my grandmother, Hazel Alice Merrill. I am in possession of it still.
