William Henry Coatney was the youngest of four children born to John Samuel Coatney & his wife Elizabeth Jane Phillips. William's father died when he was four & his mother married James Alfred Wells. James was also an uncle to Nancy Elizabeth Wells, whom William Henry married on 07 March 1871 in Endicott, Jefferson County Nebraska. Together they had six children, shown above. This Coatney Family Portrait was taken in 1900. Most of the family moved to Oklahoma for the last of the free land rushes.
