Camera: C-8080WZ
Well, I've only been shooting digital for a couple of months so finding a "Best of 2005" didn't involve looking through many pictures. I've picked this one because it reveals a world that's not normally seen - an earthstar ejecting its spores.

This kind of photo is normally taken with an ultra-high speed camera and a strobe-flash, so I guess its other merit is the sheer difficulty I had in getting the shot: standing over the fungi dribbling carefully aimed drops out of my mouth while simultaneously pressing the shutter and crossing the fingers on my other hand.

I've cropped the original to eliminate some distracting grass in the foreground and to emphasise
the fungi.
