Advice for a newbie: I am not really expert enough in the art of photography to be giving anybody professional advise, having taken my first digital photograph only some 3 years ago, and having no film experience, other than taking the very occasional snap shot.
But, what I have come to learn over the past 2.5 years is to keep posting on OTF and take the advice of those who inspire you, they will help help you in your technique. There are a lot of very competent photographers here, and should you choose to follow their lead in the types of photography you wish to embrace (landscape, portrait, street, etc), your abilities and techniques will improve substantially over time. Read,observe, experiment, and ask questions.
