We hiked up the side of Carillion with another party - a father/daughter team from Pennsylvania on a three-week hiking vacation. We had been running into them periodically since Whitney Portal.

There is a large plateau at the top of the first leg of climbing. It forms the col between Mount Carillion and Mount Russell.
