We only had to traverse a hundred yards or so of the glacier. Even so, these sun cups were huge. In some the walls were up to our chest. It was a very good thing that we brought our ice axes with us, they sure did come in handy. At this point you can see that Sam is not feeling 100 percent. We've just gotten to the base of the climb but the hike, and the lack of a rest day, is beginning to take its toll.
