Mount Doom in the background. We camped at about 12,000 ft. just over the top of Thunderbolt Pass. This was taken at sunset on our first night in the basin. That's the western ridge of Starlight Peak lit up behind Sam. The route we took up Thunderbolt is directly behind Sam. For Polemonium and North Palisade we climbed just beyond the ridge on the left skyline, and Starlight Peak we climbed from just about the middle of this photo.
